When my father was invited to be interviewed on Surinamese National TV last week, he was pleased. While on the show, he discussed the honorable Clarence Seedorf, a legend of Surinamese football and an advocate of his homeland. The President Desi Bouterse of Suriname declared Seedorf the Grand Banner in the Order of the Yellow Star, the highest declaration. My father was grateful to attend such a celebratory event, even getting the chance to speak directly with Seedorf.

Both of these gentlemen have the passion for football, that's for sure. Likewise, they are dedicated to giving back to their country. My father, Glenn Van Straatum plans on providing his former club, Transvaal direction in guiding their youth programs. The future of Suriname is flourishing, thanks to the native Surinamese who are not forgetting their humble beginnings starting right in this country.
